WINDIGO FEST TEAM CHALLENGE/ PALLBEARER RELAY RULES

 

1.) REGISTRATION AND ENTRY FEES WILL BE DUE BY OCTOBER 1, 2017.  TEAM FEE IS $100.

2.) TEAMS ARE MADE UP OF 8-10 PEOPLE. MINIMUM OF 8 DUE TO THE PALLBEARER RELAY. NO MORE THAN 10.

3.) MAPS WILL BE GIVEN OUT BETWEEN 10:00AM-11:00AM ON OCTOBER 7TH. CHALLENGE BEGINS AT 11:00AM AND ALL TEAMS MUST RETURN BY 2:00PM EVEN IF SCAVENGER HUNT PORTION IS NOT COMPLETED.

4.) ALL TEAMS MUST BRING THEIR OWN COFFIN FOR THE PALLBEARER RELAY, WHICH WILL TAKE PLACE AFTER ALL TEAMS RETRUN FROM THE SCAVENGER HUNT AT 2:00PM.  ONE TEAM MEMBER WILL HAVE TO BE CARRIED INSIDE THE COFFIN BY AT LEAST 6 OF THE TEAM MEMBERS. THE RIDER MUST BE AT LEAST 5 FEET TALL.  REMAINING TEAM PLAYERS (MOURNERS) WILL HAVE TO CLEAR THE PATH FOR THEIR PALLBEARERS.  COFFINS MUST REMAIN ABOVE THE KNEES OF EACH PALLBEARER. *THIS WILL BE TIMED AND CAREFULLY WATCHED BY THE WINDIGO REFEREE*

5.) TEAMS WILL BE AWARDED POINTS FOR EXECUSION AND CREATIVITY OF THEIR COFFIN.  COFFINS WILL BE ON DISPLAY DURING THE SCAVENGER HUNT.

6.) ALL TEAM MEMBERS MUST BE AT LEAST 18 YEARS OLD AND ALL MUST SIGN A RELEASE AGGREMENT.      

WINDIGO FEST TEAM CHALLENGE / PALLBEARER RELAY FAQs

 

Q: What skill level do I need to be at to participate?
A: All skill levels are welcome. If you have ever tried an escape room, participated in a road rally or scavenger hunt - or ever WANTED to --- this is for you! 


Q: How far will we be walking?
A: All clues and challenges will be downtown Manitowoc within walking distance of the festival grounds.  Your ending point will be at the Team Challenge area at Windigo Fest.

Q: Do I need to know Manitowoc well to have a chance at winning?
A: Absolutely not. Your problem-solving ability, collaborative team, ability to use a smart phone, and a good sense of humor are all you need! Don’t be afraid of the locals, they may be able to help you as well!

Q: Can I bring the kids?
A: You could, but this would probably make a better adult team activity.

Q: How long will it take?
A: We can only estimate at this point, depending on your teamwork. You can plan on taking about 2-3 hours.  The challenges will take an unknown amount of time depending on skill/luck!  We are asking that teams who are taking a while, to just return by 2:00pm.

Q: What are the team stipulations?
A: Your entire team must be made up of AT LEAST 8 people, but no more than 10.  For the Pallbearer Relay, the rider must be at least 5 feet tall.

Q: What happens at kick-off?
A: At kick-off, we confirm your team count, go through the rules and expectations. It will only take about 15 minutes. Be sure to be on time!

Q: What happens at the end?
A: We will be waiting for you back at Windigo Fest.  At 2:15pm we will begin the Pallbearer Relay

Q: What do we need to bring?
A: A smartphone, wear comfortable shoes/clothing, have cash on you for silly purchases as part of a couple clues!


Q: Will this be a running or super active scavenger hunt?
A: No. There will be some physical challenges (Pallbearer Relay), but the scavenger part is self-paced, but points are awarded for completion times. Some parts of the challenge will simply be solving clues. Other parts you will be 'hunting' for your clue. And in some cases, you'll be completing a challenge.

Q: Should our team dress up?
A: You may notice that most of our community events include costumes! We always welcome spirited teams, so feel free to dress in costume, or in coordinating outfits. Bring on the fun…you’ll be rewarded for this!
